{"id":37,"date":"2007-03-11T12:15:37","date_gmt":"2007-03-11T17:15:37","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/billhiggins.us\/weblog\/2007\/03\/11\/jazz-eclipsecon-2007\/"},"modified":"2007-03-11T12:15:37","modified_gmt":"2007-03-11T17:15:37","slug":"jazz-eclipsecon-2007","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/billhiggins.us\/blog\/2007\/03\/11\/jazz-eclipsecon-2007\/","title":{"rendered":"Jazz @ EclipseCon 2007"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I was in <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Santa_Clara%2C_California\" title=\"Wikipedia: Santa Clara, California\">Santa Clara<\/a> this last week at <a href=\"http:\/\/www.eclipsecon.org\/2007\/\" title=\"EclipseCon 2007\">EclipseCon 2007<\/a>.  I participated, along with several other <a href=\"http:\/\/jazz.net\/\" title=\"Jazz.net\">Jazz<\/a> component leads, in a demo Wednesday night called &#8220;Jazz in Action: Building Jazz with Jazz&#8221;.  Last year, we demo&#8217;d Jazz on a special demo server, this year we demo&#8217;d using our self-hosting server &#8211; i.e. the Jazz server we use to support our Jazz development (very meta, I know).  The demo went well and the attendees seemed to enjoy it; if you wish to hear more, this <a href=\"http:\/\/www.crn.com\/software\/197801367\" title=\"IBM Jazz Demo Draws Standing-Room Crowd - Software - CRN\">CRN article<\/a> describes it fairly well.<\/p>\n<p>Some personal highlights from the week (ordered chronologically):<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>meeting and chatting with <a href=\"http:\/\/www.redmonk.com\/jgovernor\/\" title=\"James Governor\">James Governor<\/a><\/li>\n<li>chatting with <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Ward_Cunningham\" title=\"Wikipedia: Ward Cunningham\">Ward Cunningham<\/a> about wikis and other collaborative web technologies<\/li>\n<li>meeting a bunch of Jazz teammates face-to-face for the first time<\/li>\n<li>that several Jazz colleagues that I hadn&#8217;t met before thought I was a little guy because of my <a href=\"http:\/\/www-128.ibm.com\/developerworks\/forums\/weblogs\/images\/bhiggins.jpg\" title=\"my IBM developerWorks picture\">IBM photo<\/a>; (I&#8217;m actually 6&#8217;2&#8221; or 1.88m)<a href=\"http:\/\/www-128.ibm.com\/developerworks\/forums\/weblogs\/images\/bhiggins.jpg\" title=\"my IBM developerWorks picture\"><br \/>\n<\/a><\/li>\n<li>meeting folks from the Eclipse side of Dave Thomson&#8217;s IBM Eclipse\/Jazz organization<\/li>\n<li>John and Erich&#8217;s talk &#8220;From Eclipse to Jazz&#8221; on Wednesday afternoon and the Jazz demo Wednesday night<\/li>\n<li>getting feedback from several customers who are participating in the Jazz Community Site pilot (reminder: bug reports\/enhancement requests are welcome and easy to manage, so please create them liberally)<\/li>\n<li>exploring new directions for Jazz visual design and web service architecture<\/li>\n<li>the fantastic Italian dinner in Palo Alto with the Jazz dev team<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>One FYI on upcoming events: Erich will be giving the &#8220;From Eclipse to Jazz&#8221; talk as <a href=\"http:\/\/javasymposium.techtarget.com\/lasvegas\/sessions.html#EGammaKeynote\" title=\"TheServerSide.com Java Symposium\">a keynote<\/a> at TheServerSide.com Java Symposium on Wednesday, March 21st in Las Vegas.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I was in Santa Clara this last week at EclipseCon 2007.
